In the National-led Government, Dr The Rt Hon Smith is Speaker of the House.

I am proud to represent Rodney as your MP. I have been an MP in the Kaipara and now Rodney district since 1984 and I am honoured to represent one of New Zealand’s most exciting and rapidly growing areas.

Since my great grandparents first settled in the region almost 150 years ago, the allure of Rodney has been obvious. From our beautiful east coast beaches, to the magic of the Kaipara Harbour and the great communities in between, Rodney is a truly special place.

Experience has taught me that the most important thing a Government can do is protect its people’s freedom so that each person can pursue their hopes, their dreams and their aspirations. Policies necessary to support this include:

•  Freedom from excessive taxation and regulation;
• An education and training system to create genuine opportunities for everyone;
• Vastly better infrastructure, including roading and communications, to enhance our productivity;
• Freeing up international trade on which our prosperity depends;
• A strong law and order system - the foundation of freedom for all people.

As the MP for Rodney, I am committed to representing the views of my constituents in Parliament.
